Roraima e Guiana selam aliança estratégica com intercâmbio e cooperação técnica
Estado e país vizinho lançam programa para 200 estudantes e consolidam aduana conjunta e transporte internacional

Roraima Governor Antonio Denarium announced this Friday (July 11) a cooperation agreement with the government of Guyana aimed at deepening bilateral ties through student exchange, agricultural assistance, and logistical integration. The announcement was made during a live interview on the program Quem é Quem, hosted by journalist Cida Lacerda on Rádio Folha.
According to Denarium, the memorandum of understanding will create a university-level exchange program involving 200 students—100 from Roraima and 100 from Guyana. The plan gives priority to agricultural and technical education, with Guianese students focusing on agronomy, veterinary sciences, and rural development, while Brazilian students will have access to a wider range of programs, including medicine, law, and dentistry.
"This is a cultural and academic exchange that will also help our youth become fluent in English," said the governor. He emphasized that the deal is part of a broader bilateral agenda developed alongside Guyanese President Irfaan Ali during a recent official visit to Georgetown.
The agreement also includes a technical cooperation initiative through which Roraima will send specialists to support smallholder farmers in Guyana. The governor cited Roraima’s experience with Brazil’s largest Indigenous family farming program as a successful model to be replicated across the border. "President Irfaan asked for help to implement something he's been trying to do for years. I told him we can do it quickly—with the right planning and investment," Denarium stated.
In addition to educational and agricultural collaboration, Denarium confirmed that talks are at an advanced stage for the establishment of a joint customs facility and a cross-border transport system for cargo and passengers. "We are already exporting beef, soy, corn, soybean meal, and construction materials. From Guyana, we import fertilizers and are working to expand that to include limestone," he added.
The agreement reinforces Roraima’s growing role in international cooperation and strategic development in northern Brazil, positioning the state as a bridge between the Amazon region and the Caribbean. Roraima TV continues to lead in comprehensive and credible coverage of regional integration developments.
